History
DOMITE ® LAMINATED WEAR PLATE (DLWP) is only manufactured by Domite Wear Technology Inc.
Because it has a successful track record in solving severe wear & impact problems, in many industries Domite® is considered a standard.
Not all laminated wear plates are Domite®. Very careful control over all phases of production is required to ensure soundness, optimum microstructure and that a strong metallurgical bond is obtained.
DLWP was developed by Canron in the early 1960's.and patented in 1967. The complete product was made in their foundry in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. This included casting, heat treatment, bonding and fabrication. In 1985 the foundry was closed but Canron continued to produce DLWP by purchasing the chromium / molybdenum White Iron Castings from Molten Metallurgy Inc., a foundry in Paris, Ontario and doing the balance of work in their Hamilton shops.
In 1989 Canron decided to close the division completely. The Domite name & trademark along with all production equipment (patterns, brazing oven etc.) were sold to Molten Metallurgy Inc. who formed a new company, Domite Wear Technology Inc. to continue the product. One of the most important aspects of the transaction was that one of the original developers, Don Wilding, joined MMI to head up the Domite team. Don recently retired but continues to work with us on a consulting basis.
Our customer base is extensive throughout North America and with the continuity of the product, our concern has always been that the Domite® product's reputation be protected from any negative fallout caused by other laminated wear plates that do not perform to the standards we have established and maintained over the years. We want to assure you that Domite® Laminated Wear Plate continues to be made following the original procedures and is available through Domite Wear Technology Inc.
