DOMITE® ______ LAMINATED WEAR PLATE _______from: Domite Wear Technology Inc.

Long Term Comparative Life Data

Comparative, long term field data is hard to track and quantitatively record. In preliminary trials, Domite® Skirtboards offered significant savings in downtime and maintenance costs. Only then did Canada's largest open pit, base metal mine make a concerted effort to track the effects on the bottom line - cost per ton of copper produced over a period of ~18 months.

Location: In pit crusher, transfer point, discharge feeder to conveyor tail.

Conditions: Hard rock, base metal ore, Size: 600mm-, (24"-), Drop: 8m, (26'+), Temperature range: -20O C to +32O C.

Records:

Time to change or invert Skirtboards, Cost of the old Skirtboards,(made on site from 2" thick 500 BH Abrasion resistant Plate), cost of the new Domite Skirtboards, and the tonnages of ore that had passed through the transfer point at the change time were kept by the change out crews .These were then analyzed on a spread sheet to determine relative cost, life and savings per tonne of product resulting from using Domite.

In spite of the fact that the the cost per tonne of the Domite skirtboards is lower, the real savings was in the fact that the Skirtboards had to be changed only once every 4 months instead of once every 2 weeks.

This now frees up maintenance crews, simplifys scheduling and increases productivity.
